This painting is created from memory and a collage of photographs from a party at my primary school in Nigeria.
It was a memorable day as we got to dress up in our traditional Yoruba clothes.

A painting constructed from images found on social media of New York and my own photographs of buildings in Liverpool.

Shadow Selves, 2017
Oil on Canvas on board
72 x 65 x 3 cm
in aid of RCCG Garden Of Hope International
This painting is made from a collage combining parks in South London and high rises that dot London skylines.
Reflections in the water do not actually mirror the sky, they show other worlds.
Tobi Alexandra Falade’s body of work is heavily influenced by her being born in Nigeria, immigrating to the United Kingdom at the age of seven, and the duality of this narrative. Falade feels that somehow her other self, her ‘shadow self’, continues to live on in Nigeria while she pursues her life here in London, divorced from her country of origin.
Tobi produces oily, rich and flattened paintings filled with imagery collected from family photographs as well as her own personal photography.
